They are all about convergence of ...
1 - UGC and professional content. eg MySpace and YouTube becoming distribution arms for traditional media.
2 - Web browsing and video gaming. The result is described as worlds like Second Life; where 3d graphics and social networking combine to entertain.
3 - Internet and TV. We're going to see a lot more Internet content on TV this year and it will be interesting to see what this sparks.
From this list my money is on number 3, but it will be a slow burn... right now the cost and complexity of getting your PC on TV is still too high for the mainstream. Once this happens though we will never look back.
My children who already have a TV and PC connected in the same room seamlessly switch between the two screens during play. In this picture they are doing a Sportacus Workout from Lazytown on the C-Beebies website. The same screen is displayed on the TV and PC, but the children choose to dance to the video infront of the TV and go back to the PC for the interactive content.... they take for granted that the content works across the two different screen types.
